Cell culture and in vivo mouse models

University of Washington, Seattle

Research scientist positions are available in our multidisciplinary research team. We focus on the biology of myogenic stem cell function in adult and aging skeletal muscle and in muscle wasting disorders. Emphasis is given to satellite cells and pericytes, as well as to other cell types that may contribute to myogenicity and adiposity of skeletal muscle.

Required background: Applicants should have a strong bench experience in cellular or developmental biology and established microscopic skills. Experience with managing mouse colonies and genotyping, cell culture, cell engraftment, tissue sectioning, cell sorting, strong experience in light and fluorescence microscopy, immunostaining, image acquisition and digital processing, and strong organizational, communication and writing skills are desired. The candidate is expected to contribute to lab management aspects and be involved in bench research that can lead to authorship on publications.
